Background
In 2013 Scharp was invited to deliver the bid presentation for Westadium, a consortium led by Brookfield and John Laing along with architects Cox, Hassell and HKS Sport. With an 8 week delivery Scharp were tasked with working with all stakeholders to produce a bid presentation for the $1.6b stadium and masterplanned precinct. The masterplan included space for a 6-platform Perth Stadium railway station and pedestrian bridge across the Swan River to East Perth.
Solution
Scharp produced a digital interactive bid, inclusive of 3D renders, movies, 4D construction sequence, executive summary brochure and bid packaging design. The digital bid was vital in collating information from construction documentation to scheduling, design and vision. Services provided included aerial photography, public figure and sports star video interviews, voiceover recording and numerous location visits.
Outcome
The Westadium consortium were announced winners of the bid in 2014 with ground breaking on construction in December and officially opening January 2018. Perth Stadium has instantly become an iconic destination and architectural marvel, becoming a regular host to AFL, cricket, both rugby codes and international touring entertainers. The stadium has continued to win countless awards, most recently being named the most beautiful sporting facility in the world.
