New Masterplan for Hornsby

The town of Hornsby, 23-kilometers North-West of Sydney is set to undergo major transformation under the local councils proposed masterplan.

The ambitious plan will create “a northern gateway where the city meets the bush”, by adding 4500 new homes, of which 470 will be affordable housing. This will see the population rise to 11,000 people by 2036 and will generate 500 new jobs. Towers up to 36-storeys will be built around a revamped transport hub, alongside a new library, a town square, a park and plaza, with a hotel and seniors housing on the site of the current RSL. The design is planned to reduce urban sprawl, promote use of public transport and address housing supply demands.

Cox Architecture, tasked with delivering their design to public exhibition, came to Scharp to bring such an ambitious and challenging masterplan to life. Scharp created 6 flythrough animations encompassing the entire scope of the project. Images and design plans were animated and combined with the flythroughs to create a 5-minute movie presentation showcasing the new Hornsby Town Centre.
