1 William Shortlisted For 3 Awards

Scharp would like to congratulate all involved in the successful delivery of 1 William, Brisbane. The tower has been shortlisted in 3 categories for the 2018 Australian Institute of Architects Queensland Chapter Awards: Commercial Architecture, Interior Architecture and Sustainable Architecture.

The CBUS Property-developed, and Brookfield Multiplex-constructed tower was completed in 2016 for the Queensland government and has immediately established itself as an iconic and prominent part of the Brisbane skyline.

Much thought was put into the design of 1 William to accommodate its main tenant - the Queensland Public Service - and to be a proud symbol of the state of Queensland. Its form is angled away from the CBD, looking out instead towards the interior of Queensland. Levels are themed and coloured to represent Queensland flora and fauna such as Barramundi (levels 3-5), Moreton Bay Fig (levels 6-8), Saltwater Crocodile (levels 9-11), etc. The building is intended to receive a 5-star NABERS office energy rating and 3-star NABERS office water rating.

Scharp have an extensive history working with architects Woods Bagot, having provided 3D visualisation over the years for high profile projects such as SAHMRI and Adelaide Convention Centre. In 2012 Scharp produced ten 3D visuals of 1 Williams exterior and a further fourteen in 2014 of the interior spaces.

To Scharp, a render indistinguishable from the final project photograph is our benchmark and we can confidently tick 1 William off as a success 6 years on. We’re delighted to see 1 William receive universal positive praise from tenants, industry observers and the public alike.

Furthermore, with construction of Queens Wharf - another Scharp project adjacent to 1 William - soon to begin, we’re looking forward to seeing the finished rejuvenation of Brisbane’s river bank.
